Mount Marty College is proud to announce the hiring of Eric Nelson as Assistant Men's Basketball Coach for the 2013-2014 season. Originally from Laurel, Nebraska, Nelson comes to Mount Marty from Westwood High School in Sloan, Iowa where he spent the past three years as the head girl's basketball coach and was a teacher at the middle school.

Coach Baker is very pleased to have Nelson joining his staff stating, "Eric brings a lot to this program. He has coached for many years and done it as both an assistant and as a head coach. He also has done lots of work with individual skill development."

Nelson received his undergraduate degree from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa in 2008. While at Morningside, he played for the men's basketball team for three years and spent his senior year and the two seasons following as an assistant coach for the team. During those six years with the Morningside program he was a part of two GPAC Championship teams and three national tournament teams.

"Eric knows the conference very well and knows the type of players we have in this conference. He grew up in northeast Nebraska, played in the GPAC, and has coached in this area at multiple levels. He understands what it takes to win at this level and that experience is great to have here at MMC," Coach Baker stated.
