mount Marty offers many opportunities for generous scholarships

You've worked hard to get to college, and we recognize that. Good grades, athletic and musical talent, and even your Catholic faith can all earn you money for college. There are many scholarships for Catholic schools, like Mount Marty, making a private education affordable and valuable. Check out what you might be eligible to receive - you might be surprised how much is available for you! 

Guaranteed Academic Scholarships & Awards

If you're going to be a freshman and have a 2.0 GPA or 18 ACT/860 SAT score, you are guaranteed at least one of these academic scholarships and awards. Transfer students with a 2.0 college GPA and GED students with a score of 500 (145 old scoring system) are also eligible.

These guaranteed academic scholarships are renewed each year as long as you remain a full-time student (at least 12 credit hours per semester).

Prestigious Academic Scholarships

You can also receive additional scholarships on top of your guaranteed amount. 

Up to $1,500 on top of Guaranteed Academic Scholarships (honors Saint Scholastica, the sister of Saint Benedict).

Up to $5,000 on top of Guaranteed Academic Scholarships.

Prestigious Academic Scholarships can be renewed each year if you maintain a certain GPA.

Eligibility: Full-time, Yankton campus student or a transfer who is interested in participating in art, band, theatre or choir.
Application: Apply for admission. Student must apply for admission and indicate an interest on their application. Please see Talent Scholarships for more information.

Eligibility: Full-time, Yankton campus traditional student or transfer who will participate in intercollegiate athletics.
Application: Apply for admission and receive a recommendation from a Mount Marty College coach.

Amount: up to $2,000
Eligibility: Full-time, Yankton campus student or transfer who is Catholic, meets admission criteria, and demonstrate financial need.
Application: Apply for admission and complete the FAFSA.

Amount: Variable
Eligibility: Full-time, Yankton campus student or transfer who is Catholic, meets admission criteria, with prior participation or experience in church activities and/or volunteer activities. This award requires participation in MMC Campus Ministry programs for renewal.
Application: Apply for admission, submit Application for Catholic Scholarship Awards. Interview is required.

Amount: $500
Eligibility: Full-time, undergraduate, freshmen and transfer students on the Yankton campus whose parent or grandparent earned a bachelor's or master's degree from MMC. You need a 2.0 high school GPA or an 18 ACT or a 2.0 cumulative college GPA.
Application: Gain admission to MMC and submit Heritage Award application.

Amount: Variable based on need
Eligibility: Full-time, Yankton campus student or transfer student who demonstrates financial need. Awarded to dependent students living on campus or with parents and to independent students.
Application: Apply for admission and complete the FAFSA. Priority date is October 1.

Eligibility: Full-time, Yankton campus transfer student who must be an active member of PTK.

Amount: $10,000
Eligibility: Full-time, Yankton campus transfer student, this scholarship will replace a guaranteed academic scholarship.
Application: Apply for admission and complete the FAFSA. Priority date is October 1.

Eligibility: Freshman, South Dakota residents, 3.0 GPA, financial need.
Application: Special application due by April 4, 2017.

The Dakota Corps Scholarship covers full-tuition and generally applicable fees through funding from the state of South Dakota, private businesses, nonprofit corporations and matching funds from Mount Marty College. You must compete through an application process and are selected by the Dakota Corps Scholarship Board. You must enroll in a critical need field and agree to work in an area of critical need in South Dakota equal to the sum of the number of years of scholarship received plus one year to fulfill the scholarship obligation. You must be a resident of South Dakota at the time of high school graduation, have an ACT composite score of 24 or higher and complete high school course requirements commonly known as the Regents Scholar curriculum with no final grade below a C and a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The scholarship is up to $5,000 for four years if you meet renewal criteria. For more information, please visit the South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship website.

The Mother Jerome Schmitt Scholarship, honoring Mount Marty College’s first president, is awarded during a student's senior year and grants full tuition for one academic year and is non-renewable. It covers the cost of tuition at Mount Marty College for the year it is granted, up to 17 credit hours each semester. You also must actively participate in a college recognized club, organization or activity.

Mother Jerome served as president from 1936-1957. She oversaw construction of the Bishop Marty Chapel, Whitby Hall, Marian Auditorium, and a new convent. After serving as prioress for 29 years, Mother Jerome taught German, worked in pastoral care and was a tutor at the college. In 1980, Mother Jerome was named Yankton’s Citizen of the Year. She was a valiant, strong woman respected and admired by people across the state and nation.
